LLF Double Down (aka "Doubler") - 2012 Registered ASHDA Gelding

This gelding has it all... beauty, brains and character to boot!! Doubler is registered with the American Sugarbush Harlequin Draft Association and is a qualified Bronze Ambassador the breed.

Doubler is an absolutely FUN and EXTRAORDINARY performance and pleasure gelding!  He is a DECORATED SHOW HORSE with wins Halter, Hunt Seat and Western Dressage. He is a formidable competitor in the ring and judges really love him. Watch out for this guy in the Dressage ring next!

In addition to his show ring success, we're taking this guy on trail rides, obstacle courses and clinics. He recently CROSSED A LINE OF FIRE!!! Plus he's crossed tires, a mattress, crossed teeter totter, went through pool noodles and more natural obstacles such as creeks, washouts and bridges!

About Doubler & Training

Doubler is 15.2hh and at 5 years old, I would consider him an 'old soul'.  He is uncomplicated to ride, fairly laid back and the forgiving kind, but he does have some horse-power! He is soft in the bridle and responsive to all cues and aids. Doubler is learning his lateral work - shoulder in, haunches in, half pass, etc. Working on solid lead departures and is fine tuning his walk-to-canter transitions and counter-canter.  NO BUCK, REAR, BOLT or other creative attempts to unseat a rider. He has a 100% solid track record and has proven to be a safe, compliant, obedient mount.  Doubler is so completely versatile and capable, any direction would suit him. We're focusing on Dressage, however he seems to enjoy jumping too and may be happy pursing that as well. Additionally, he does well outside of the ring and crosses water, bridges, washouts, etc.  He rides out alone and with a group.

Hunt Seat Under Saddle

To get some under saddle show ring experiences under our belt, we've shown Doubler in Hunt Seat and HUS Equitation and WOW, he delivered!  Exceptional show-ground manners and he wow'd judges too. Every show we've taken him too, he comes home dripping in blue ribbons.

Western Dressage

Wow! What a fantastic Western Dressage debut! At his first Western Dressage show, Doubler scored 73.54%, 74.37% and 75.7% and won all 4 of his classes!  The judge adored him and her comments were "Beautiful Horse!", "Lovely" and "Awesome Ride".  Woohoo... what an awesome start!

On the Trail & Obstacles

Wow! Doubler is a blast on trails and has no issues going through creek crossings, up wash-outs, down wash-outs, over bridges, galloping through open fields and winding through the trees in the woods.  He is an absolute blast!!  He'll trot away from the group, rejoin friends, follow in the group and lead the way.  Additionally, we've taken Doubler out on solo trail rides and he does great.  No problem leaving the barn and doesn't rush the rider to get back.

He has also completed the 4Shepherds Horsemanship clinic, hosted by a retired Dallas Mounted Police Officer.  In this clinic he led a group of 17 other horses and riders over a line of FIRE!! Plus he was brave and happy to cross tires, a mattress, through pool noodles and over a teeter totter!

Ground Manners

Just watch the video... trailer loading halter-less!! Another REALLY great quality is this guy absolutely gallops up to greet you!! Just whistle and he runs to the barn to greet you.  So, he's definitely an easy catch in the pasture!  He'll also politely back away from feed tub and wait for the cue to eat!  Other items he can 'check off the list': easy to clip, bath, ties good, knows quite a few lunging cues for speed and changes of direction and he also side passes and pivots from the ground!

TRAILERING: Clearly, Doubler is easy to load and unload.  We haul him several times a month offsite to shows, lessons, clinics and trail rides.  Typically, he's hauled alone and is completely confident on his own. He does great while traveling too and doesn't paw and his patient at stops.
